The newly added gallery on our AsianInvestor.net homepage shows participants at this year's event, which was attended by more than 270 people and featured 30 speakers.

More than 270 people attended AsianInvestor's sixth annual Asian Investor Summit in Hong Kong on May 18-19 at The Conrad hotel in Hong Kong.

The two-day event featured more than 30 speakers in all, with an opening presentation on China's economy by Qiao Yu, professor of economics at Tsinghua University's school of public policy.

The first morning focused on strategic allocation in a changing fixed-income landscape and debated whether now was still a good time to be investing in Asia's growing bond market, given ongoing policy-rate risks due to inflationary pressures.

Marion Le Morhedec of Axa Investment Managers also got the audience talking with her presentation on inflation-linked bonds, while Anthony Chan of BlackRock broke up the fixed income focus with a look at whether ETFs were likely to feature in institutional investor portfolios.

Vontobel's regional CEO Ulrich Behm kicked things off after lunch with a presentation on emerging market investment returns, before the three panels examined alternative investments, followed by real estate and then risk management and corporate governance.

There was also a case study presented by quant portfolio manager Ho Ho from CalPERS on what it had done in its global equity group since the global financial crisis.

Day two began with a presentation on China's economy by Geng Xiao of Columbia Global Center for East Asia, followed by discussions on commodities and the role of transition managers.

Chi Lo, CEO of HFT Investment Management, gave his thoughts on RMB internationalisation, before a panel debated the arguments for emerging markets versus developed markets. Abhi Shroff of Greenwich Associates rounded things off with a look at trends in institutional investing.
