Asia-Pacific Debt Forum, July 2010, Hong Kong

Demand for investor education was strong in 2010 – the first full year of recovery from the global financial crisis – with fear of major risks offset by the need for yield amid an environment of ultra-low interest rates. In all, our 15 conferences attracted more than 3,000 attendees last year, almost a 50% rise on 2009 when the number of attendees was 1,600.

The speakers at last year’s events included: Philippines president Benigno S Aquino III; Dr Marc Faber, editor and publisher of the Gloom Boom & Doom Report; Kenneth Rogoff, Harvard professor and former chief economist at the IMF; Jim Walker, founder and managing director of Asianomics; Scott Kalb, chief investment officer of Korea Investment Corporation; and Yin-hua Yeh, commissioner for Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission.
