Nearly 200 delegates attended AsianInvestor’s fourth annual China Institutional Investment Forum in Beijing last week.

The event, staged at The Westin Beijing Financial Street hotel, began with an address by Connie Bolland of Economic Research Analysis on the outlook for China and China-related investments given US and European travails.

There followed a panel discussion on the opportunities for alternative investments across Asia and a presentation on the future of ETFs in China by Sandra Lee of BlackRock.

The afternoon session opened with a panel discussion to try to determine what’s on investors’ minds for the coming five years.

Allen Wang, head of China institutional business for BlackRock, provided a presentation on institutional investment in China.

There followed a panel on risk management and governance and the forum was concluded by author Stuart Leckie, CEO of Stirling Finance, on investment by pension funds and sovereign wealth funds in the country.
