Paul AndersonÆs mystery move

The well-connected Anderson leaves Franklin Templeton.

Paul Anderson, whereabouts unknown. The director of business development at Franklin Templeton Investment Services in Hong Kong has left the firm after 10 months of service, confirmed Asia Pacific CEO Michael Reed. But the multi-talented Anderson’s next move is unknown, according to Reed. Calls to Anderson and his secretary over the past two days have not been returned.

Anderson’s CV crosses many sides of the finance industry, with experience at HSBC, running a bank in Indonesia, consulting and insurance. Such a varied background was what made him attractive to fund management giant Franklin Templeton. Anderson also served on the board of advisors to PensionsAsia, the magazine of pensions and investment management, which is a publication of FinanceAsia.

Reed would not comment on the reasons behind Anderson’s departure. When asked whether or not Anderson left of his own accord, Reed declined to get into detail, saying only that the move was amicable and mutually considered.

As for Franklin Templeton itself, Reed says no new hires will replace Anderson. “Change means opportunity,” he says, noting the organization has a slew of aggressive and qualified people who can assume different aspects of Anderson’s duties.
