New equity trading head for ING

The ARKaccess founder and president has secured a new senior role.

ING Barings has named Alan Kanuk as its new managing director, head of equity trading, Asia, and deputy head of equity markets, Asia.

His role will be to expand the company's Asian equity trading platform. He will also manage ING Baring's trading and execution activities in cash equities, GDR's, programme trading, index arbitrage and convertible bonds, and regional sales.

Most recently, Kanuk was founder, president and CEO of electronic trading platform company ARKaccess. He also spent a total of 18 years at Bear Stearns. Most recently, he worked in the Asia Equity Group in Hong Kong. Prior to coming to Hong Kong, Kanuk was co-head of the Bear Stearns' institutional equity block trading desk, based in New York. He has served on both the New York Stock Exchange Upstairs Traders Advisory Committee and also its Allocation Committee.

Kanuk will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Eugene Marais, head of equity markets, Asia, and Anthony Baker, head of equity trading and derivatives.
