Morgan Creek transfers Nicolas Lee

Private equity firm Morgan Creek has transferred an analyst from North Carolina to Hong Kong and plans to build staff numbers this year.

Morgan Creek Capital Management and its Asian wing Morgan Creek Capital Management Asia are expanding in the region. The firm opened its Asian offices approximately one year ago.

An analyst, Nicolas Lee, has moved from Morgan Creek's head office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina to Hong Kong.

At present, two of the firm's senior partners, Nirav Kachalia and Jason Zhang, are located in Asia, in the Morgan Creek offices in Hong Kong and Beijing respectively.

The firm plans to expand the team this spring as it expects to find some investment opportunities in Asia and it says it will make two additional mid-level hires in the region.

Morgan Creek has over $10 billion in assets with offices in North Carolina, Beijing, Hong Kong and New York. It was founded by Mark Yusko in 2004, and he remains as chief investment officer.
