Citi builds its hedge fund customer base

Lane Hocking joins the bank as head of equity and finance trading in Asia ex-Japan.
Citi has appointed Lane Hocking as a managing director and head of equity finance trading Asia ex-Japan effective July 2007. Hocking will be based in Hong Kong and report to Hannah Goodwin, head of Citi's prime brokerage in the Asia-Pacific.

"Lane will be a great addition to the prime brokerage team in Asia. He has over 10-years of experience in the equity financing business and has excellent client relationships. We look forward to Lane playing a leading role in growing and further developing our stock loan and synthetic financing business in the region," says Goodwin.

Citi says that Hocking's appointment to equity prime brokerage and equity finance further underscores its commitment to expand services to the hedge fund customer base in Asia-Pacific.

Hocking has spent the previous 10 years at Deutsche Bank, where he worked in London, Tokyo and Sydney. His most recent role was head of prime services and co-head of synthetic equity for Deutsche Bank Securities in Japan. He holds a bachelor of law and commerce degree from Otago University.
