Bank of America Merrill Lynch hires more private bankers

Bank of America Merrill Lynch hires Lim Eng Guan as head of global wealth management for Southeast Asia.

Lim Eng Guan has joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch as managing director and head of global wealth management for Southeast Asia. He will be based in Singapore and report to Antony Hung, head of Asia-Pacific global wealth management.

Lim, who starts July 1, will be responsible for driving the bank's overall wealth management effort in Southeast Asia and tasked with building cross-enterprise links with partners in global markets and global corporate and investment banking, according to a source.

Lim joins from Credit Suisse in Singapore where he was most recently head of the China and Singapore markets. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Citigroup including a secondment to Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, where he was chief consultant and deputy CEO of the consumer bank as well as general manager of the wealth management division.

He replaces Kong Eng Huat, who retired earlier this year.

A few weeks ago, the bank also hired Yeng Fang Ong as managing director and head of global wealth management for Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. Both Ong and Gea Hong Tho, who is responsible for global wealth management in Singapore and Malaysia, report to Lim.

Ong joined from Julius Baer, where she was most recently managing director and deputy market head. Prior to that, she spent 17 years at DBS Bank in a variety of roles.
