Two new hires for Norton Rose

International law firm Norton Rose expands its Indonesian and Thailand practice teams.

Norton Rose has hired Jon Worsfold from Clifford Chance to be the firm's point man in Indonesia. Worsfold will be a senior associate and work in the offices of Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo in Jakarta, with whom Norton Rose has a strategic alliance.

Worsfold had been with Clifford Chance for nine years, the previous four having been spent in Singapore. At Norton Rose, he will replace John McLean who is relocating to the firm's Hong Kong office.

Worsfold is an experienced in corporate finance lawyer, having done deals throughout Southeast Asian, in particular in the energy and telecoms sectors. Recently he advised Indosat on its extensive corporate restructuring.

"There are business opportunities in the region for our clients and the prospects for more opportunities are looking good," says Chris Moore, Norton Rose's Singapore partner. "Jon Worsfold is an excellent lawyer and together with John McLean's relocation to Hong Kong, means that we now have lawyers exerienced in Indonesian work in Jakarta, Hong Kong and Singapore."

Worsfold's hire comes days after the announcement that Somboon Kitiyansub has joined Norton Rose's Bangkok office. Somboon is a specialist in banking and M&A law.
