Citi reassigns regional cap intro head Jolly to RM team

In a new role, Rimmo Jolly will help US and European hedge funds to set up operations in Asia. AsianInvestor understands Martin Visairas is now running Citi's Asian capital introduction and prime finance sales.

Citi has moved Rimmo Jolly, the bank’s former regional head of capital introduction and prime finance sales, to its global markets relationship management team in Asia-Pacific.

In a switch announced internally this week, Jolly will work with Citi relationship management teams in the US and Europe on hedge funds that are setting up operations in the region.

His transfer, which has not been announced publicly by the bank, was confirmed by an industry source. Citi declined to comment for this article.

AsianInvestor understands that Martin Visairas has been heading Citi’s Asia-Pacific capital introduction since the beginnning of this year and recently took on the prime finance role. He reports to managing director Hannah Goodwin, who built and has been running the regional prime brokerage operations for the past six years or so.

Jolly had moved to Hong Kong in 2009 from Citi in San Francisco, where he led US west coast prime finance sales. He has been with Citi for nearly a decade, having initially joined the bank in the US in 2002.

Visairas previously led the capital introduction unit at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong before taking on the job as head of international sales at Old Mutual Asset Managers in London in 2009.

A number of other capital introduction teams in Hong Kong have also seen leadership shifts in the past year. Last September, UBS hired Stephen Pak from Credit Suisse to head its regional cap intro business. The post at UBS had previously been held by Hugh Abdullah, who departed to join Morgan Stanley in the same position.
